This webinar will give you an update on European sustainability requirements based on draft Omnibus proposal to reduce the scope and the burden of such requirements.

We will explore the latest developments following the European Parliament’s adoption of the “Stop-the-Clock” Omnibus proposal for CSRD (corporate sustainability reporting) and CSDDD (corporate sustainability due diligence).  Part of the Commission’s February 2025 simplification package, we will break down key (proposed) changes affecting the CSRD and CSDDD.

We will explain the delays to reporting obligations and revised transposition deadlines for Member States.  Next, we will review ongoing negotiations at European level on the proposed changes to the scope and contents of these requirements, and cover ongoing debates, political dynamics and expected next steps towards formal adoption.  We will also take you through the proposed simplifications to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).  You’ll hear about the proposals for simplification of the double materiality assessment, shortened standards, reduced mandatory datapoints, and new burden-reduction reliefs.

Each topic will include a clear focus on what the changes mean for companies, providing practical guidance and tailored insights to help you understand specific business impacts and compliance steps.

This webinar will be presented by Sigrid Ververken (Counsel Global Transactions, Freshfields LLP).
